Rev. Fr. Samuel Yaw Adu, SVD

Rev. Fr. Samuel Yaw Adu, SVD is a Ghanaian Catholic missionary priest belonging to the Society of the Divine Word (Divine Word Missionaries).

Fr. Samuel was born in Adamsu in the Bono region of Ghana and was ordained to the priesthood on 6th August, 2011. He served in Chereponi St. Brigid’s Parish in the Yendi Diocese and was later transferred to the St. Joseph Freinademetz House Formation in 2014 as treasurer and formator.

Fr. Samuel later went to Study Missiology in the Gregorian University, Rome, Italy obtaining a Licentiate in 2019. He returned to Ghana and was appointed to be the formator in charge of the Philosophy students (the Prefect) of the St. Joseph Freinademetz Formation House, Tamale. During this time, he started teaching in both St. Augustine Major Seminary (SAMS) and St. Victor Major Seminary (SVS) till date.

From 2019 till date, he has been part of the teaching team in the Tamale Institute of Cross-Cultural Studies (TICCS). In 2023, he was appointed as Director of TICCS. Fr. Samuel loves teaching and research work. He is a Missiologist with specialization in Theology of Religions.

Currently, he is teaching courses such as Missiology, Interreligious Dialogue and Ecclesiology (SVS), Introduction to the Study of Religions (SAMS), Mission and Development, Contemporary Missionary Approaches, Culture & Pentecostalism in Ghana and Culture-Shock in Mission: Coping Strategies (TICCS).
